About HARPS...

How We Work

We are no longer enrolling animals into our adoption program. We can, however, assist you in placing an animal by posting information on our website, providing you with contact information for other rescue groups, and helping with low cost veterinary care. Please understand that it does sometimes take time to place an animal into a new home.  Please be patient....your patience may save his/her life!

Who We Are

Homeless Animal Rescue and Placement Services, Inc., otherwise known as HARPS, Inc., is an all volunteer, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue and care of abandoned, abused and unwanted animals in the Middle Georgia community.

Our mission is to provide the necessary veterinary care for needy animals and assist their owners/rescuers with placing them into permanent homes where they will be treated with the love and respect that they deserve.  We also strive to educate the public regarding responsible companion animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering. Several caring veterinarians help HARPS by providing low cost spays and neuters and other necessary veterinary care.

How HARPS is Funded

HARPS has no paid employees…everyone is a volunteer. Your donations go directly towards the care of the many animals in our program. For example, in 2005 alone we spent over $45,000 on veterinary care – and this is with the generous discount several local veterinarians give to HARPS! This figure does not include other expenses such as food, litter, and other essential supplies. No donation is too big or too small and your donations to HARPS are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
